Upstate Medical University Plans Cancer Center

SUNY Upstate Medical University will break ground in early 2011 on a $74 million cancer center in Syracuse, N.Y. The five-story facility will provide 90,000 sf of clinical space on three floors with two floors to accommodate future expansion. Designed by EwingCole, the center will house three linear accelerator rooms and 27 private infusion areas. The construction cost of the facility is $50 million with $24 million for equipment and furnishings. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the project. Occupancy is expected in September of 2013.
