Published 1/20/2010

New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center celebrated the opening of the Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center in New York in January of 2010. Designed by Pei Cobb Freed and daSILVA Architects, the six-story, 142,000-sf building will provide comprehensive cardiac care with advanced technologies for diagnosis and treatment. The facility was made possible by a $50 million gift from the Vivian and Seymour Milstein family. Housing two operating rooms, 20 cardiac ICU beds, and sophisticated imaging equipment, the center will be fully integrated with the adjacent Milstein Hospital Building and the Herbert Irving Pavilion. LEED certification for sustainable design will be sought for the project.
