Dell Reaps $5.8 Million in Energy Savings

Dell has implemented strategies to reduce energy consumption that will result in $5.8 million in annual savings. By year-end 2009, the company will have cut global energy consumption by 48 million kilowatt hours per year. The savings are the product of several energy efficiency initiatives including:•    Installation of building automation systems•    HVAC and lighting upgrades•    Improving facility insulation•    Server consolidation and better hardware and data center design•    Installation of 1E NightWatchman and SMSWakeUp power management software on 50,000 desktop and notebook computers
