The General Services Administration is planning to construct a $220 million forensic laboratory in Washington, D.C. Providing research facilities for the Department of Health's Public Health Laboratory, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Metropolitan Police Department, the 287,000-sf, six-story facility will be built to attain LEED Gold certification. The project team includes architectural firm HOK, general contractor Whiting Turner, and construction manager Jacobs Engineering. Completion is slated for late 2011.
