El Camino Hospital opened its $480 million acute care center in Mountain View, Calif., in October of 2009. Construction began on the five-story, 450,000-sf addition in 2004. The 241-bed facility was designed by KMD Architects of San Francisco. The seismically sound expansion features robotic technologies for surgery and the transport of medical supplies.
