The U.S. Army opened the Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCOE) at Fort Lee in Petersburg, Va., on January 9, 2008. The 222,000-sf SCOE will provide headquarters facilities and administrative offices for the Quartermaster School, Ordnance School, Transportation School, Combat Training and Development, and Combined Arms Support Command. Accommodating 1,100 Army personnel, the $50 million center will house operations relocated from Aberdeen Proving Ground, Redstone Arsenal, Fort Eustis, and Lackland Air Force Base as part of the Base Realignment and Closure act. The $110 Army Logistics University is also under construction at Fort Lee. The four-story instructional facility features a three-story simulation center and is slated for occupancy in spring of 2009.
