Sherman Health Constructs Elgin Replacement Campus

Sherman Health is constructing a $325 million replacement hospital in Elgin, Ill. Designed by Shepley Bulfinch Richardson & Abbott, the 645,273-sf facility broke ground in June 2006 and is slated for completion in December 2009. The 255-bed facility features all private rooms and will include a six-story patient tower, a two-story diagnosis and treatment center, a cancer center, and an emergency department. Sited on 154 acres, the facility will be heated and cooled by a 15-acre geothermal lake. The project contractor is Walsh Construction.
