Royal Jubilee Hospital Breaks Ground in Victoria

Published 7/30/2008

Royal Jubilee Hospital broke ground on its $350 million inpatient facility in Victoria, B.C., in July of 2008. The 37,000-sm, 500-bed hospital will provide acute care as well as housing a Centre of Excellence in elder care. The patient-centered facility will open in early 2011 with 400 beds, 80 percent of them in private rooms, with more beds to be added according to demand. LEED Gold certification for sustainable design will be sought for the project. The Royal Jubilee Hospital is a public-private partnership between the Vancouver Island Health Authority and ISL Health. The project team includes architect Cannon Design and builder Acciona Lark Joint Venture.
