Arizona State University’s 223,000-sf Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in downtown Phoenix is slated for completion in August of 2008. Designed by HDR and Steven Ehrlich, the six-story building has a 35,000-sf footprint and features a sustainable, energy efficient design. Project manager Sundt Construction broke ground on the $71 million facility in February of 2007. LEED Silver certification will be sought for the building, which houses classrooms, an auditorium, offices, broadcasting, news conference space, and ground level retail.
