University of Rochester Medical Center Opens Wilmot Cancer Facility

The University of Rochester Medical Center opened the $61 million James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, N.Y., in May of 2008. The four-story, 164,000-sf facility features the Radiation Oncology Treatment Center with five linear accelerator systems and advanced imaging technologies. The facility also houses the 5,000-sf Comprehensive Breast Care Center, the 46-chair Infusion Center, a family resource center, meditation rooms, and a three-story atrium. Consolidating UR Medical Center’s cancer research and treatment operations, the Wilmot Center is designed enable patients to obtain laboratory results, consult specialists, and receive treatment without scheduling multiple appointments.
