Pima County Constructs Psychiatric Hospital and Recovery Center

Published 5/22/2008

Pima County has selected Gilbane Building Company to build two psychiatric facilities in Tucson. The 144,042-sf Psychiatric Hospital will house 80 to 100 inpatient acute care beds, psychiatric urgent and emergent care, psychiatric court hearing rooms, and basic clinical studies for neurology and psychiatry. The 64,100-sf Psychiatric Clinic Recovery Center will house comprehensive screening, assessment, crisis stabilization treatment, and triage capability. There will be a number of adult beds for individuals requiring a stay of several days, a separate space for persons who can be treated and returned to their homes in less than 24 hours, as well as a number of other capabilities to serve youth and families. The total cost of both projects is estimated at $48 million. The architect is Cannon Design.
