Louisiana State University will break ground in summer of 2008 on a $28 million clinical research facility. The four-floor, 90,000-sf facility will be part of the 600,000-sf Pennington Biomedical Research Center sited on 237 acres in Baton Rouge. Upon completion of the clinical research building, construction will commence on a $12 million imaging center and a $50 million renovation of the existing clinical facility. Specializing in nutrition and obesity research, the Pennington Center currently houses eight basic research laboratories, three clinical research units, 19 core service labs, inpatient and outpatient clinics, and a conference center.
