Published 4/15/2008

Baltimore Washington Medical Center opened its expanded emergency room in Glen Burnie, Md., on April 16, 2008. The $13 million expansion includes 17 private emergency treatment rooms and a radiology suite. The project, which brings the ER to a total of 69 beds, is the first phase of a $117 million construction project that will include an eight-story tower housing a preliminary testing suite, obstetrics, wound healing center, sleep center, and intravenous therapy. Four inpatient floors in the tower will accommodate 87 private beds, 24 ICU beds, and 18 obstetric beds. The tower is slated for completion in spring of 2009.
