CoxHealth Breaks Ground on Orthopedic Hospital

CoxHealth broke ground on a $47.7 million expansion and renovation of Cox Walnut Lawn Hospital in Springfield, Mo., in November of 2008. The project will create the Meyer Orthopedic Center as part of an Orthopedic Center of Excellence. The $24 million orthopedic hospital will house four orthopedic surgery suites, 35 private patient rooms, a 15-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, and a 35-bed transitional care unit. Completion is expected in February of 2010. A $22 million ambulatory surgery center is also under construction and is slated for completion in October of 2009. The project includes a $1.7 million upgrade of the central utility plant.
