The NIH’s National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) has selected Weill Cornell Medical College to establish the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) in New York. The CTSC, a biomedical research collaboration between partnering institutions, will foster translational research on patient treatment and preventive interventions. Funded by a $49-million Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), the collaboration will include Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Hunter College’s Gene Center and School of Nursing; City University of New York, the Cornell University Cooperative Extension in New York; New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center; Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; and six Weill Cornell–affiliated hospitals. A new biomedical research building currently under development at Weill Cornell will house the CTSC.
Other institutions to receive CTSA grants include Case Western Reserve University; Emory University; Johns Hopkins University; University of Chicago; University of Iowa; University of Michigan; University of Washington, Seattle; University of Wisconsin-Madison; Vanderbilt University, Washington University; and UT Southwestern Medical Center.
