Grand Valley State University is engaged in seven construction projects totaling approximately $100 million. On its Grand Rapids, Mich., campus, the $16 million John C. Kennedy Hall of Engineering is nearing completion with classes already under way. The facility houses 21 lab and support spaces, a 70-seat lecture hall, three computer-aided technology studios, and a green roof. Occupancy of the new engineering building will allow renovations to Eberhard Center, which will reopen in fall of 2007. In Muskegon, The $1.4 million Marec Biodigester project is slated for completion in August 2007.
Infrastructure improvements totaling $4.7 million will be made to the Allendale Township campus and will be completed in December 2007. Construction began in April 2007 on the $33 million, 40,800-sf Honors College facility housing two classrooms, 16 offices, a computer lab, and a science lab; occupancy is slated for August 2008. The $18 million Movement Science and Indoor Recreation athletic building will reach completion in late summer of 2008. A $20 million, 84,000-sf academic addition to Mackinac Hall will provide a GIS lab, 22 classrooms, 120 faculty offices, five conference rooms, and seven department offices. Lastly, Kirkhof Student Center will expand with a $6.2 million, 27,000-sf addition.
