Acadia University Contracts with Johnson Controls for Sustainable Facilities Initiative

Published 3/20/2007

Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, is initiating an $8-million facility infrastructure improvement plan with Johnson Controls. Entitled the “Sustainability Through Facilities Innovation Initiative,"  the project will reduce facility operating costs by lowering consumption of electricity, fuel oil, and water through system upgrades and the implementation of building automation systems and controls. It is estimated that Acadia will reduce its utility-related operating costs by a minimum of $680,000 and its greenhouse gas emissions by more than 13 million kilograms per year, as well as significantly reducing water consumption.
