Published 2/11/2007

The Swedish Neuroscience Institute opened its new $30-million clinical complex at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle in February of 2007. The facility includes four technology-rich operating rooms at 900,000 sf each, with four additional operating rooms in shell condition that will be developed in the future. The project features minimally invasive, computer assisted neurosurgical and imaging technologies including integrated guidance systems, intraoperative MRI and CT scanners, brain-mapping capabilities, interventional neuroradiology techniques, and portable computed tomography scanners. The complex began construction in fall of 2005. The project architect was Seattle-based Callison with general contractor Lease Crutcher Lewis.
