Providence Health System Expands Holy Cross Medical Center

Published 2/6/2007

Providence Health System has selected HMC Architects of San Diego to design the $143-million expansion of Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, Calif. Slated for completion in 2010, the project consists of a four-story tower addition housing a women’s services department with labor, delivery, and neonatal ICU; general acute care; surgery, recovery, and endoscopy; an intensive care unit; a chapel; and dining areas.

The tower will qualify for LEED® certification by incorporating sustainable design features such as an energy-efficient central plant, low-emitting materials, and high performance glazing. The design of the tower will also feature identical patient rooms, separation of staff and patient circulation, and centralized lobbies for ease of wayfinding. The fourth floor of the tower may be built out in the future.
