Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Develops Translational Research Building

Published 10/9/2007

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has awarded Turner Construction the $235 million contract for the second phase of the Colket Translational Research Building. The eleven-story, 423,000-sf tower will house four floors of laboratories, three floors of office space, two mechanical floors, and a support floor. The exterior enclosure, building structure, vertical transportation, and mechanical systems can be modified to support future expansion. Phased occupancy begins in 2009. Turner is nearing completion of the first phase of the facility, which is a shared, below-ground link that houses support functions including laboratories and a central utility plant capable of expansion to support the Phase 2 tower.  Phase 1 represents approximately $150 million in construction volume.
