University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Develops McCombs Institute

The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is adding approximately 750,000 sf of biomedical research space and outpatient care in a new complex named the Red and Charline McCombs Institute for the Early Detection and Treatment of Cancer. With a projected cost of $500-million, the McCombs Institute will include: the Proton Therapy Center, slated to open in 2006; the Center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging and Research, slated to open in 2007 to 2008; and the Center for Targeted Therapy which will develop molecularly targeted drugs when it opens in 2007 to 2008.
