Published 1/5/2006

Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has selected the joint venture of Barton Malow and P.J. Dick Inc. to serve as general contractor of a new clinical services building that is part of Children's new campus. The construction cost of the facility is approximately $174-million. The partnership between Children's Hospital and UPMC enables UPMC's construction department to oversee the development of the new Children's campus. The nine-story clinical services building will have one million square feet of space and 260 inpatient beds including private patient rooms with parental sleeping accommodations. The clinical services building is the centerpiece of a 10-acre development project that will include a major research facility, office space for faculty and staff, a new central utility facility, and two new parking garages.
