Syracuse University is broke ground in April of 2006 on the $107-million Life Sciences Complex, an addition to the Center for Science and Technology (CST) on the college's Syracuse, N.Y., campus. Slated to open in fall 2008, the facility will double CST's existing footprint by adding up to 210,000 sf of laboratory and classroom space. The project will further the University's collaborative research in the areas of cell signaling and environmental science by uniting under one roof undergraduate and graduate programs in biology, chemistry, structural biology, biochemistry, and biophysics. Designed by Ellenzweig Associates, the six-story facility will be comprised of a teaching wing, a research wing, and an atrium connecting to the CST. The Life Sciences Center will house seminar rooms, lecture halls, faculty offices, greenhouses, research laboratories, teaching laboratories, and lounges.
