University of Arizona Expands Facilities for Chemistry and Optical Sciences

The University of Arizona in Tucson is engaged in a $46.1-million expansion of its Chemistry building. Housing additional research labs and office space for the Department of Chemistry, the facility is slated for occupancy in May 2006. The project was designed by Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership and is being built by Hensel Phelps Construction .

Additionally, the University is expanding the Meinel Optical Sciences Building in order to centralize all programs into a single location. The new $17.2-million College of Optical Sciences was redesigned by Richard & Bauer Architecture and is being built by Lloyd Construction Co. Occupancy is slated for September 2005.
