DOD Repairs Hurricane-Damaged Pensacola Naval Air Station

The Department of Defense  has awarded a $79-million contract to the Dick Corp . for construction work at the Hurricane Ivan-damaged Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. The project consists of two multiple-story facilities housing visitors' quarters, a gym for officers and enlisted personnel, and a rescue-swimmer training center. The contract is part of a $600-million demolition and repair effort at the base, which is home to the Naval Education and Training Command and the Navy's Officer Candidate School. Completion is expected by May 2007.
