San Francisco
California Pacific Medical Center opened its $22-million Kanbar Cardiac Center in San Francisco on Sept. 7, 2004. Housing therapies including angiograms, treadmill tests, stress echo tests, cardiac catheterization, and EKGs, the 12,000-sf facility consolidates two prior cardiac catheterization labs and provides space for a new electrophysiology lab. Complementing CPMC's efforts in heart transplants, implantable artificial hearts, and heart pumps or LVADs (left ventricular assist devices), the center will accommodate high technology imaging and diagnostic heart mapping equipment.
