Cal State Hayward Plans New Technology Center and New Dorms

Cal State Hayward will initiate construction in fall of 2004 on a $23-million, 67,000-sf Business and Technology Center . Slated for occupancy in 2006, the building will house classroom space for education and engineering students, as well as the Business and Economics Department. State-of-the-art technology will include satellite links to the university’s overseas campuses and built-in wireless and fiber-optic communications systems.

 

Additionally, a $29-million student housing project will double the university’s dormitory space with the construction of three new buildings. The first dormitory, housing up to 230 freshman, is expected to open in fall of 2005. Also, a $10-million, 28,840-sf annex to the University Union is slated for completion in 2006. It will contain a meeting room accommodating up to 250 people, as well as offices for student clubs, a catering kitchen, and a commuter’s lounge.
