St. Joseph's Hospital Plans Expansion in St. Paul

Published 12/15/2004

St. Joseph's Hospital is planning a $70-million expansion of its existing 400,000-sf, three-building campus in downtown St. Paul. Project plans describe the construction of a five-story, 171,000-sf facility that will house an outpatient clinic, heart center, neurovascular institute, and helicopter landing pad. Two additional floors may be constructed in the future to accommodate growth.

The five-story North Wing facility will be demolished and replaced by a new emergency room and a 350-stall parking ramp. The project aims to create 100 percent private rooms in the hospital, maintaining the current bed count of 250 staffed beds. Ground is slated to be broken on the project in 2006. Boldt Consulting Services of Chicago is planning the development of the expansion. St. Joseph's is part of HealthEast Care System.
