Nielsen Media Research (NMR), a provider of television audience measurement and monitoring services, has completed its new $71.5 million, 39-acre corporate campus in Oldsmar, Fla. The 475,000-sf Phase I campus consists of five interconnected buildings which include training rooms, conference facilities, and a 4,000-sf employee cafeteria that can accommodate over 330 people. The project features a four-story, 100,000-sf data center and central plant with a 25,000-sf computer room. This structure is capable of withstanding a category 5 hurricane with winds up to 155 mph and a tidal surge of 25 feet above sea level. The mechanical and electrical systems are fully redundant and can run for more than 72 hours without outside utilities.
The campus has a dual underground utility loop to assure that NMR will never lose power, air conditioning, or communications due to unforeseen conditions. Development manager Beck represented the owner in managing and overseeing the design and construction of the project. Phase II will add an additional 140,000-sf, four-story office building that connects to the other buildings by a pedestrian bridge, a 450-space parking garage, and an 80,000-sf build-out of the Phase I space. The total construction cost for Phase II is $26.5 million.
