Columbia St. Mary's Plans Mequon Hospital Expansion

Columbia St. Mary's is planning a $100-million expansion of its Mequon hospital campus. Designed by Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum of St. Louis, the 330,000-sf project includes the addition of 77 beds and the construction of an ambulatory care center. Ground will be broken on the expansion in summer of 2005 with completion to follow two years later. Doubling the size of the current hospital, the project will include:

  • a 159,000-sf inpatient wing
  • a three-level, 162,500-sf ambulatory care center with facilities for rehabilitation, surgery, imaging, pharmacy, and 35,000 sf of medical offices
  • a cardiac care center and two additional operating rooms

The cardiac center is expected to reach completion in January of 2005.
