Monongahela Valley Hospital Plans Emergency Decontamination Unit

Monongahela Valley Hospital is planning to double the capacity of its emergency department with an $8-million expansion project. Increasing the number of treatment rooms from 12 to 24, the expansion will increase the size of the department from 7,100-sf to 18,450-sf. A decontamination room, a new security office, and an isolation room for patients with infectious respiratory diseases will also be constructed. Monongahela Valley Hospital is located in Monongahela, Pa. Construction is slated to begin in early 2004 with completion expected in 2005.
