The University of South Florida College of Nursing has received a $750,000 donation from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida to establish the Center for Advanced Nursing. Matched by funds from the state’s Facility Enhancement Challenge Grant Program, the facility will be a major component of the new USF Healthcare & Education Center that will house the College of Nursing and a center for integrated education and clinical care. The private sector has contributed approximately $3-million for the new nursing building to date, including the funding from Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Doubling the college’s size, the project is slated to break ground on Sept. 16, 2003. The $1.5-million Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Center for Advanced Nursing will create three U-shaped, tiered classrooms equipped with distance learning technology and Internet access within the new College of Nursing facility.
