GSA Breaks Ground on NOAA Satellite Operations Center

The General Services Administration and the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) broke ground on the new NOAA satellite operations center on April 11, 2003. Designed by Santa Monica-based Morphosis and Einhorn Yaffee Prescott of Washington, the $61-million facility is located at the Suitland Federal Center. $50-million in high-tech equipment and $3-billion in control satellites will be housed in the new center. Construction manager for the 208,000-sf, three-building project is 3D/I. Completion is expected in 2005.
