Lewis & Clark College Expands Student Housing

Lewis & Clark College is engaged in a comprehensive residence hall improvement program scheduled for phased construction and occupancy from 2001 to 2020. The project will complete the south campus and will expand on-campus student housing from approximately 1000 to 1400 residences. Many modifications to existing residence halls will also be made. The first phase of the project consists of three two- and three-story houses of 56 beds each for junior and senior class students in combinations of two and four-bedroom suites. Each house will have common social spaces. 7,000-sf of mixed-use retail will provide social, recreational, and activity space. Construction of the first phase began in May of 2001 and is slated for completion in late summer of 2002. The project is expected meet the silver level of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification as established by the United States Green Building Council.
