University of Chicago Builds Graduate School of Business Campus

The University of Chicago has awarded the Chicago office of Turner Construction Company the contract to build a new $125-million campus for the Graduate School of Business. Turner is the construction manager at risk for the project, which is scheduled for completion in August 2004. The architect is Rafael Vinoly Architects of New York, N.Y., and the development manager is Mesirow Stein Real Estate of Chicago. The new 410,000-sf facility will include classrooms, study rooms, a technology center and other activity space and will also house administrative offices. The new building will also include a winter garden and three outdoor terraces. It will allow the Graduate School of Business to consolidate its operations into one facility from the four buildings the school now occupies on the University's main campus.
