Irvine, Calif.
The program for Ford Motor Company's Premier Automotive Group Headquarters Facility consists of a five-story 250,000-sf office tower, 30,000-sf design center, and a four-story parking structure. The facility consolidates the North American Headquarters for Ford's five luxury automotive brands, while maintaining individual brand identity. The project, built as a "green" facility, incorporates sustainable features. The LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) 2.0 guideline was used with the following results:
- Underfloor air distribution, indirect lighting, protected exterior exposures and a "high efficiency chiller" produce greater building efficiency
- A fuel cell provides 25% of the entire project's energy requirement
- 90% of the occupants have views to the outside and daylighting
- 30% recycled content with 60% of construction waste diverted from landfill
- Green screens and a green roof provide 70,000 sf of additional landscaping
- 20 electric vehicle charging stations
Designed by LPA of Roseville, Calif., the facility is the only "private" sector building in California with a LEED 2.0 Certification.
