UTSA Breaks Ground on Institute for Economic Development Headquarters

Published 4/21/2002

The University of Texas at San Antonio recently broke ground on the new Institute for Economic Development headquarters in downtown San Antonio. Designed by Ford, Powell & Carson Architects & Planners, the 33,000-sf facility will house the Institute's 90 employees. Funding for the $6.4-million facility was completed by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration's award of $1.75 million to the University. Tuition revenue bonds will cover the balance of the funds. Occupancy of the facility, to be built by Swinerton Builders of San Antonio, is expected in mid 2003.
