Published 2/12/2002

The University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey has selected Sordoni Skanska of Parsippany, N.J., to manage construction for a 139,000-gsf expansion of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey’s current cancer facility. The Institute is located on the New Brunswick campus of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Construction on the $46.7-million, five-story project began in February 2002; completion is expected by December 2003. The expansion will add space for research, patient treatment, cancer prevention and education programs. Two floors will be dedicated to clinical space; three floors will contain labs. Separate areas will be created for the Dean and Betty Gallo Prostate Cancer Center, the Fannie E. Ripple Foundation for Women’s Reproductive Cancers, and the Unilever Center for the Study of Diet and Nutrition. The Hillier Group is architect for the project.
