Published 10/23/2002

The University of Idaho will dedicate the J.A. Albertson Building for the College of Business and Economics on October 25.  Designed to accommodate the College’s Integrated Business Curriculum, the facility features state-of-the-art multimedia classrooms, team teaching and learning rooms, smartboards, and telecommunication capabilities for distance education. A “Trading Room” where students can trade stocks, bonds and commodities online will be ready by fall of 2003. The College of Business & Economics’ first permanent home in its 77-year history, the Moscow campus building houses 55,000 sf of space and will accommodate 1,634 students and approximately 300 employees this year. With an atrium gallery, foyer, laboratories, and team teaching & learning rooms, the $15-million facility was entirely funded through private and corporate dollars. Technologies include student laptops and multi-media installations in a fully wired and wireless environment. Lead architects were Design West Architects of Nampa and the associated firms of Gordon Walker of Seattle and Yost Grube Hall of Portland. The construction contractor was Swank Enterprises of Kalispell, Montana. The project is part of The Campaign for Idaho, a multi-year fundraising campaign aimed at supporting the university’s strategic initiatives.  The J.A.
