Community Medical Center in Fresno broke ground on its new Regional Medical Center on April 5th, 2001. The six-level, 340,000-sf trauma/critical care building is the centerpiece of a $250 million, multi-phase redevelopment plan designed by RTKL Associates Inc. unifying several medical institutions on a 58-acre urban medical campus. Ratcliff, architects and interior designers of Emeryville, Ca., served as the associate architect. Slated for completion in 2004, the structure will include 58 intensive care beds, 8 additional operating rooms, an emergency department with 68 treatment positions, radiology and cath labs, and two rooftop helicopter landing pads. Also included are a Level One Trauma/Burn Center, a 90,000-sf ambulatory care center, a receiving center and warehouse, a central energy plant, and a parking structure.
