University of Maryland Plans Renovation

University of Maryland, Baltimore County, has selected Boston-based Einhorn Yaffee Prescott, Architecture & Engineering, P.E. (EYP), to renovate the 137,000-sf undergraduate Chemistry/Biochemistry Building. The renovation will increase the number and quality of teaching and research labs, and provide departmental and faculty offices, lab support areas, and interaction areas for students and faculty. Upgrades to the engineering system will involve major electrical and mechanical improvements throughout the facility including the addition of 16,000-sf of penthouse mechanical space. Engineering systems upgrades will also be carried out at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a prominent AIDS research center housed in the building. EYP will provide architectural, lab planning, interior design, and mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical engineering services.
