Published 10/19/2000

California State University-Hayward (CSUH) is raising money for the construction of a new $20-million Business and Technology Center—a three-story, 100,000-sf facility to house the School of Business and Economics. Built to accommodate a wireless, fiber-optic communication system, the structure will feature 24-hour Internet connections for 14 classrooms; 11 resource centers; New Media lecture hall with multimedia/video-conferencing facilities; wireless computer networking capability, including connections with other CSUH regional learning centers; satellite connections with CSUH international learning centers; and a new multipurpose auditorium for class lectures, workshops, and conferences that will accommodate up to 500 people. Construction will begin as soon as fund raising is complete, which is anticipated by the end of the 2001-2002 school year.
