
Tim Cowell serves as the Director of Space Planning and Design at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. In this role, he oversees the strategic planning and design of spaces within the school, including the recently inaugurated Dr. Allen and Charlotte Ginsburg Human-Centered Computation Hall. This 116,000 square-foot facility serves as the new home for the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science and the USC School of Advanced Computing. The building is designed to foster collaboration among students, researchers, and faculty, featuring modern computational laboratories, flexible meeting spaces, and open areas that promote interaction. Notably, Ginsburg Hall has achieved LEED Platinum certification, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Before joining USC, Cowell accumulated over 20 years of experience in corporate office and workplace design. He has been instrumental in various design initiatives, focusing on creating environments that enhance functionality and user experience.
Cowell's expertise in space planning and design is also recognized in professional circles; he has been a speaker at industry events such as WORKTECH23 Los Angeles, where he shared insights on workplace design and innovation.
