Delaney Vavra from greater Seattle, WA area (specifically Sammamish, WA). Undergraduate from University of Washington in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Started at Fred Hutch Cancer Center (was previously Seattle Cancer Center Alliance) in the Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI) department. Role was on focused on applying an Industrial Engineering and Lean approach to clinic design, known as Integrated Facility Design. This included data modeling to validate programmatic needs of clinics (number of rooms to support patient demand, etc.), and focus on designing spaces that supported patient and staff workflow and eliminated waste. This early focus in planning clinic design lead Delaney closer to the facilities planning world, and eventually stepped into role as Senior Manager of the Space Planning and Data team. In this role Delaney manages all short- and long-term space planning for Fred Hutch organization - from office assignments of new faculty to supporting major campus planning initiatives, and the space data management tool Archibus that tracks current state space use. Recent projects include master campus planning with three newly acquired research lab buildings and continuing efforts in office space optimization.
